Hi. Just a quick note on the four sons. Shad and Henry moved to Alabama in 1833. John died about 1818/1819 I believe, based on administration documents, but these need to be be looked at again. Charles died about 1826 so he can be eliminated. Marion County South Carolina 1830 Here are sons Henry and Shad, sons of Shad and Rhoda. Henry Rice 1 male 10 to 15 1 male 15 to 20 1 male 30 to 40 1 female 15 to 20 ( daughter Hannah Menettie born 1812) 1 female 20 to 30 (this is his second wife Mary Jane Mints whom he married 19 April 1827 and who was born 19 June 1806 so she is about 24 years old at this time) Shadrach Rice 1 male 0 to 5 2 males 10 to 15 1 male age 15 to 20 1 male age 30 to 40 2 females age 5 to 10 2 females age 15 to 20 If your ancestor was not married before 1833, I would think that as a single girl she would have come to Alabama with her parents. If your ancestor could be one of the older girls in Shad's household above, or already married by 1830, then she would have remained in South Carolina with her husband. I think if she could be one of the older girls in Shad's household, then she would be married 1830 to 1833, before her father and uncle move to Bibb County, Alabama. JOhn Rice the other son of Shad and Rhoda was born 23 Dec 1794 and died, as I said, soon after being appointed administrator of his father's estate. His father died on 4 Sept 1817. John would be about 25 when he died, so if you ancestor was born before say 1818/1819, then it is possible that John could be her father and named her for the grandmother. I have no knowledge or documents to show that John was or was not ever married and dont know if he was the father of any children, but reaching the age of at least 25 is plently of time to marry and have children. Charles the fourth son died about 1826 and would be only 13 so he is not the father. Marshel Roy Cunningham PO Box 26 Montevallo Alabama 35115 Notify Administrator about this message?
