LANDRUM'S OF BARBOUR COUNTY, ALABAMA
Posted by: Linda Leake Amerson (ID *****6692) Date: August 31, 2007 at 13:00:31

Need information on any and all LANDRUM surnames in Barbour County. I'm trying to find connections for my Sam Daniel and Missouri A. Landrum. Is he the son of George Lewis Landrum and Rebecca Drake??
Missouri is age 38, head of household on the 1860 census record for Barbour County with post office located at MOUNT ANDREW. Her husband, Sam, isn't listed but her youngest child is Sarah F or S, age two, so am assuming he died around 1859 or he left her and went elsewhere. Don't know what happened to him or Missouri. Haven't found death record, burial place or anything.

The 1860 census doesn't give relationships but the oldest in the home is listed John R. Landrum age 20 b. Georgia, Nancy J. age 17 b. Georgia, Mary 15 b. Alabama, William 10 b. Alabama, Franklin 8 b. Alabama, Benjamin 5 b. Barbour, Alabama, and Sarah F.(or S.), age 2. John R., Nancy and Mary are all young enough to be children of Missouri but it has been speculated that they may be children of another brother of Sam's.

For sure, William (Jasper), Franklin (Frank), Benjamin (Lawrence) and Sarah, who married John Atkinson, went to Texas but don't know what happened to the rest of them. Frank went back to Alabama before he died of consumption.
Any info on any of these individuals or any Landrums in Barbour County is appreciated.
