Glenda Bynum Cochrane, 61, of 323 Wimbish Drive, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at her residence. She had been in declining health since 1999 and seriously ill for the past month. Born Feb. 2, 1943, in Columbus, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Calvin Bynum and the late Lois Agnes Bennett Bynum.
She resided in Eufaula, Ala., where she attended high school prior to moving to the Danville area, where she lived for the past 40 years.
She had been employed at Corning Glass for four years and Brockway Glass for six years. She was a member of Forest Lawn Baptist Church.
She married Jan R. Cochrane on June 23,1960.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by _three daughters, J. Shay Cochrane of Danville, Sherri Fitzgerald of Pelham, N.C., and Kim C. Thornton of Danville; two brothers, Larry BYNUM of Colorado and Donn BYNUM of Blairs, Va.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Schoolfield Cemetery with the Rev. Daryl Joyce officiating.
The family received friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Swicegood Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence, 323 Wimbish Drive.
The family suggests that contributions may be made to the Danville Cancer Association, 2323 Riverside Drive, Suite J, Danville, VA 24541.
Swicegood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
