Is this the same Rev. John Akin that died in Wayne CO TN 1821 from Maury Co. and left a will that is posted on the Wayne CO. site?Is his son listed as William V. Akin on the will ( or was it the paper setting the slave free in 1825) the same William V. Akin in Decatur Co TN? Trying to see if there is a family connection to my Lott Akin also in Decatur Co. Tn. On Rev. John's will he has a Black Slave named Lot Akin set free 3 years after his death . This is not my Lott but it is interersting that he had a slave named Lot. Feedback would be nice. My Akin line is said to be Cherokee for the "Indian" ( from Terry family history) that raised my greatgrandmother when she was orphaned in 1865/66 is Lott Akin's son James D. Akin of Decatur Co. TN. My gtgrandmother is also part Cherokee (grandpa told us this and he aught to know for she is his mother)and islisted in 1880 census under James D. Akin as his niece.
