George Carlson Moe (~1886- ??) & Paraskeva Philipov (?) (1910- ??) were married in Kodiak 7 May 1928 (they were still living there in 1934 and 1938).
Parasekva had 1st married Stefan NIKIFOROFF (1896- ??) and they had a son Peter NEKEFEROFF (b. 1918) and daughter Beulah NEKEFEROFF (b. 1921). Paraskeva and George had Norah MOE (b. 1938) , Thelma MOE (b. 1930), and Rose MOE (b. 1933).
Stefan was a son of Peter V. NIKIFOROFF (1864-1918) and Accinsa (TAKNAAK) IAGI (1877-1918). Peter was the son of Vasilii NIKIFOROV (<1831-1890) and Ekaterina KALMAKOV (no dates). Vasilii was the son of prikashchik Stepan Iakovlevich NIKIFOROV (mother's name not known; parents reportedly not married). Ekaterina was a daughter of Peter Fedorovich KOLMAKOV ( -1843) and Daria CHUVAGAEV ( ->1843). Peter was a son of lay priest Fedor Lavrent'evich KALMAKOV ( -1839) and Natal'ia (>1839) who may have been from Katmai.
The surname patterns around the turn of the century and for some years after are, to say the least, complicated. Often a father's first name would become the child's surname. Names were also changed to facilitate spelling. Sometimes a person took the name of another who was well-respected. Siblings did not necessarily have the same last name though they had the same mother and father. It helps when searching to look for family groups as opposed to individuals.
Let me know if I can be of more help.
