John Kelly early 1900s Nome AlaskaI

I am looking for information on my Greatgrandfather John Kelly. I know he married an Ellen Sullivan and had my Grandmother Mary Ann Kelly on May 5, 1909 in Nome Alaska. She had a little brother named Jim Kelly. Her parents had a bar in Nome called the "bloody bucket". I know that there was some kind of flu epidemic and that my all of them fled to SanFrancisco in 1918. I tried to get copies of the birth certificates but a lady at the Vital Records said they were sealed for 100 years? Anyone know about this? Can anyone help me obtain any information?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Holly
