Hi Marlene,
I didn't realize you were head of the Skagway Historical Society...no wonder you're so knowledgeable! I visited your Skagway site, and am really impressed...and also found the 'Happy Birthday' piece about Elizabeth King. I did not previously have her exact birthdate, so one more piece of info I need to thank you for.
I also found the article you had mentioned in 'History of Anoka Co...' and found it absolutely fascinating. Oddly enough, I had previously done some poking around, trying to find May's surname, and had come up with this same family; I was 'tickled pink' to have my assumptions backed up with fact. The article does mention their children: 'two children born in Maine...Florence (Mrs. Frank Herrick, Bayfield, Wisconsin...), and Carrie (Mrs. A. I. Pitman). Those born since are: May (Mrs. William King, Skagway, Alaska), Alice (Mrs. Charles Merrill, Burns), Simeon (Died Aug. 2, 1863).'
So as not to ramble on any longer, I once again want to thank you SO much for all your efforts....the information you provided has been enormously helpful!
Best Regards,
Judy King
