: Inquiring On Grandmothers Name and Heritege

I am inquiring on Motes history for my husband. We are trying to find out the name of his original Grandmother's name and heritage. his grandfathers name was William Motes we know that his second wife's name was Betty ward Motes and that she was the maid. we believe they lived in North Carolina or South Carolina. We Know William had four children with his first wife. William, Marie, Philliameen{Sp}{ Or Philimina} and Le Roy. Le Roy was my Husbands father who resided in Springfield ma. But prior had resided in Washington or Oregon we believe. Le Roy's first wife was Daisy. They has three children. We are interested in as much history and heritage as we can get but we are VERY interested in My husbands Grandmother and her side of the family as well! We also know that my husbands grandfather had a fishing boat in Alaska that he sold. We believe that the grandmother may have been part Mohawk. My husbands brother has done some research and we have also been told that the Name Motes has been altered from the original surname and that we were knighted and that there we believe are french and dutch ancestry. Thank you for all your help in this matter and any information can be forwarded to myself at angelcarec@yahoo.com. My husband and i are very appreciated of all help!
