Am trying to locate info on the death of John C Powers who froze to death on a trail in Alaska between 1900-1903 (most likely time frame). He was a miner. He had been in prison for a number of years in Oregon for killing his father-in-law in a pistol duel in 1881. The Gov. of Oregon pardoned him and the story is that he went to Alaska to work in the gold mines.
Any info would be helpful.
