ANDERSEN murder, pre 1900, ?? Alaska

I am seeking information on a real family mystery. My gr grandmother, Louise LARSEN BERG's half brother, surname ANDERSEN(no 1st name known), went off to Alaska prior to 1900. Although no one knows how much gold he actually found, he did fashion a stick pin with a gold nugget on top. My mother has the pin so I know it exists. He was murdered somewhere in Alaska. This is all I know. Can anyone tell me where I might look? Please e mail me directly. Thanks in advance. Kay
