Prostitution in Ketchikan

A skeleton in my family tree!!! My aunt is said to have been a prostitute in Ketchikan in the late 20's. Seems she may have been forced into it by her husband??? He got her addicted to morphine, probably was addicted himself and may have forced her into prostitution to support their habits. In 1930 at the age of 28, she couldn't take it anymore and drank poison ending her life.
Is there anyway to verify this information? Any historical resources. Was prostitution legal at this time? Family will not speak of this at all. Her name was Etta Steiner Collins Case, her husband (I have not verified marriage) Thomas Case. Anyone give me a clue as how to proceed on this one?
