Schooner Lincoln sank 1896 Cooks Inlet

Looking for information on the Schooner Lincoln that went down in 1896 near Cooks Inlet. The party of miners and crew who left Seattle never made it to the gold rush. The Schooner was built in Seattle in 1894. My ggrandfather, was according to family story, on board. Where would family members report that they had a family member missing? Would these names be listed somewhere? Thak you for your attention. W. Wells
