WORCESTER, Shayne Conley, 29
SOUTHWEST HARBOR - Shayne Conley Worcester, 29, a victim of a random act of violence, died May 26, 1999, in San Francisco, Calif. Shayne was born Oct. 15, 1969, in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he spent his early years with his parents and sister fishing, dog sledding and indulging his youthful passion, airplanes. After his family moved to Southwest Harbor in 1977, he enjoyed special trips with his family and friends to Mopang Lake and Township 25 where he liked to hike, visit and pursue a later passion, writing. Shayne attended Mount Desert Island High School in Bar Harbor where he was co-captain of the 1986 State Champion cross-country team and editor of the literary magazine. He graduated in 1987 with his beloved and lifelong friends, Chris Farley and Edward Mobraaten. Shayne went on to graduate in 1991 with honors from the University of Rochester and Worcester College at Oxford University in England. After graduating, Shayne pursued his career goal of becoming an independent filmmaker. The path to this goal started in New York City, continued in Greenwich, Conn. and on to Portland, Maine. Here, Shayne, Kyle Rankin and Efram Potelle co-wrote and produced "Reindeer Games", Maine's first independent feature film written and produced by a Maine company. Subsequently, Shayne began his own independent film company, Hurricane Productions, and was anticipating production of his latest script this fall. Additionally, he worked at Street and Company Restaurant in Portland for several years where he made and now leaves many dear friends. A dedicated brother, son and friend, Shayne will be sadly missed by his sister, Megan L. Worcester of Bar Harbor; his mother, Priscilla St. John and her husband, Richard Bellittieri of Hall Quarry; his father, Mark C. Worcester and his wife, Connie of Southwest Harbor. Also missing Shayne will be his maternal grandmother, Marietta St. John of North Brunswick, N.J.; and his paternal grandfather, B. Conley Worcester Jr. and his wife, Alice of Southwest Harbor. He leaves behind aunts and uncles, Pam Trowbridge, Lee and Sharon Worcester, Damaris and Michael Smith, Joyce Worcester, Tom Trowbridge; cousins, Beth and Ben Trowbridge, Rain and Ross Worcester, Jenny Philbrick, Anna and Becca Smith and many dear friends. A celebration of life memorial service is planned for 1 p.m., Friday, June 4, 1999, at the Claremont Hotel, Clark Point Road, Southwest Harbor. The Shayne Conley Worcester Memorial Scholarship Fund is being established to honor Shayne's memory and donations may be mailed to the Bar Harbor Banking and Trust Company, P.O.
