The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, June 25, 1908 NATHAN JEWETT was born in Newark, Licking County, Ohio, April 2, 1836. At the breaking out of the rebellion, he enlisted in Company H. 3rd Ohio Infantry Volunteers, and served three years, after which time he was honorably discharged. After the close of the war he came to Iowa, locating in Chariton in 1867, residing here until his death which occurred Thursday morning, June 18th. He was an honorable man, upright in his dealings, and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and two children, ALPHEUS, of Free Point, Alaska and MRS. ETTA CLARK, of this city. Funeral services were held at the home on Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. McCullagh, and interment made in the Chariton Cemetery.
