The whaling ships that went to Arctic Alaska and Canada were mostly based out of San Francisco. You can try the J. Porter Shaw Library in San Francisco at http://www.nps.gov/safr/local/lib/libtop.html and the whaling database archives at http://www.ci.new-bedford.ma.us/SERVICES/LIBRARY/sigin.htm and there is a book called "Whaling Masters and Whaling Voyages Sailing from American Ports" by Judith Navas Lund (2001). You may also want to trying posting a message on The Whalers Heritage Project at http://forums.delphiforums.com/whalers/ good luck with your search. I know there are families with the last name Armstrong in the Kotzebue area. Notify Administrator about this message?
