Hi Dawn,

It's been a long time since anyone posted anything here so I hope that I can still get a hold of you here. I recently got a phone call from the guy in Vancouver that is producing that docu-drama on the Sophia disaster. He said that they have a working script, but I don't know if they have actually started casting or filming anything yet.

Did you catch the blurb on the BCTV news when James Delgado showed off the Ships Bell from the Sophia? There was also a 1/2 page article on the acquisition of the bell in the Vancouver Sun. If you didn't catch the news hour bit, then you missed the part where he said that they are planning a gathering of the Sophia victims' descendants on October 25, 2004 at the Vancouver Maritime Museum where they intend to ring the bell once for each victim of the disaster. At this point in time, if they do have this event, I am planning to attend. Maybe we'll meet there.

This producer guy keeps saying that he wants to get together with us over coffee somewhere, but he never seems to get back to me with a time or place, so I quess he's not that serious about it. I'm not really holding my breath about the docu-drama, because if it's anything like the typical movie plan, there is a good chance it will never actually get made.

If you have missed that articles that James Delgado has submitted to the Vancouver Sun on the Sophia, and you can get your hands on back issues of the Sun, there is an excellent article in the Saturday, May 26, 2001 issue, on page A21, and the ships bell article is in the Monday, August 16, 2004 issue, on page B8.

Well I quess that's all for now. Hope to hear from you. My new email address is

Sincerely, Cathy Stapleton
