Census 1900 - 1920 for Henry S. Clyde - Where to look

It is thought my great grandfather Henry Smith Clyde may have been in Alaska between 1900 - 1920 for some of those years for the gold rush. He was a Surveyor. How and where do I start to research to see if I can fine him. Thanks for any help you can give. Pat
