m looking for information and family of Herbert Wiley McDonald/MacDonald. What I know about him is very sketchy and I'm not sure of the accuracy.
He was born about 1905 and raised in Missouri by his grandparents. At age 13 he ran away and took a job as a driver for a man who owned a car but couldn't drive. He lied about his age and joined the Army were he served as a cook in Hawaii. He was sent to the brig for black marketing and moonshining. He eventually went AWOL and changed his name to Jackson Miller Donald.
He had a brother named Jerome who may have had 2 daughters. It was rumored that Jerome died in the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Jackson married Mary Augusta Latham and they had two sons: Walter Jerome born 1934 in Arkansas, died 1993 in Alaska and Robert who was born 1937 in Bakersfield, CA.
Jackson may have been married when he was going by the name Herbert and there might be a daughter from that marriage.
Jackson and Mary moved to Alaska in 1954 and he died there August 8, 1970.
It is also rumored that his grandfather was a waterboy in the Confederate Army.
