From these newspaper accounts, the name of her husband, and her residence address, we can identify this lady from census records as Mary (Aitken) Aitken, daughter of ______Aitken and Mary (_______) Aitken, born probably in Jamaica, New York in 1834. She and William F. Aitken had three children, all alive in 1882, when she died. William F. Aitken was a cousin who had immigrated from England some time in the 1850’s. Her sister, Lydia Aitken, was married to William H. Bass Both William F. Aitken and William H. Bass had served in the 6th N. Y. Cavalry during the Civil War, and later married the sisters, Mary Aitken and Lydia Aitken.

Any information on the ancestry or descendants of this family would be appreciated. William Bass and Lydia Aitken were my great grandparents.
