Thomas Aird in Montreal in 1862

I am trying to track down Thomas Aird, shoemaker, at 183 St Mary in Montreal who appears in the Montreal Directory for 1862-63, but not earlier or later directories. He apparently was a witness at the burial of William Aird in 1860. William Aird appears at the same address in the 1861-62 and earlier directories (I'm aware that directories can be a year or two behind in removing names).

William Aird is my ancestor and am trying to trace his parents. William didn't have a son named Thomas and since he was 77 when he died, the witness is unlikely to be his father. It could be a brother or cousin. William and his family (wife and children) came to Canada in 1829. There were already AIRDs here when they arrived, but have been unable to connect them with William Aird. It may have been an uncle and family who came a generation earlier.

Thanks.
