I have seen many postings listing Thomas Ainsworth,(b. abt 1775, SC, d. abt. 1870 Smith Co, MS)as Thomas Phillemahay Ainsworth. I disagree with this.
There are some records that say Thomas was of Choctaw blood and was Phillemahay or Phillemahay. See below:

Phillemahaya Ainsworth was half Choctaw Indian, was the father of Ailsey Ainsworth, who was the wife of George Redmond who was half Choctaw Indian and was the father of Eliza Redmond who was the wife of Josephus Bond, and she was mother of William Davis Bond who was the father of I, Hezekiah Bond.
This is where the Phillemahaya connection comes from.
My direct line is from Thomas and Sarah Ainsworth. I have had my Y-DNA tested (passed from male to male) and I closely match Ainsworths whose families NEVER LEFT ENGLAND.
This proves beyond any doubt that Thomas WAS NOT OF CHOCTAW BLOOD, there were not any Choctaws in England.
Many Ainsworths married native Americans. A daughter of Thomas and Sarah, Ainsley Canzada Ainsworth, married George Washington Redmond. George was listed as half Indian by some. Some researchers say name was changed from Redbone and he was a Choctaw chief named Plilamayhay. I have no proof on George Redmond but do not doubt he was at least part Indian and may be the one the name Phillemahay belongs to.
Thomas and Sarah Ainsworth lived close to the Choctaw people from the time in the 1830's that they moved into the Smith Co, MS area. I have heard of "Choctaw adoption" of outsiders into the tribe. It MAY have been possible that this happened to Thomas BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY PROOF OF IT.
I said all this to possibly clear up some of the "Thomas Phillemahay Ainsworth" listings. Unless someone can show some real proof, I ask you refer to my GGGGgrandfather as
Thomas Ainsworth.
