Ailstock-Jack Connection - Rockbridge/Bath VA
Posted by: Dixie Halber (ID *****6110) Date: May 24, 2004 at 08:56:37

I have been researching the Jack line from Bath county Virginia for several years. My great-great grandmother, Rebecca Jack had a number of children but never was married nor reported any father for these children.

Recently, I received the SS5 of one of her children, Allie Z. Jack. He stated on this form that his father was "Charlie Illstalk." I believe this to be Charles P. Ailstock of Rockbridge County VA. Charles was born in 1836 and died 1920. He was listed in the 1870 census as living in Bath county, only a few doors down from Rebecca.

Does anyone have any information on this Ailstock? Any family stories of children other than reported with his wife? He was married at least twice, with children reported from his second marriage.

Any information would be most appreciated.
