Joyce,
As far as I know, I don't fit in to this family.I am currently the editor of the Guth Gutt Good Newsletter, www.guthguttgood.com, and was researching birth, marriage and death listings posted to http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/vitalrecords/index.asphttp://www.wisconsinhistory.org/vitalrecords/index.asp? seeing if I could place the individuals listed in our database.I was having a hard time locating Lilly's maiden name when it popped up on the birth record for Theodore.Searching on my browser led me to your posting. We only have a few generations back on Wilbur Wesley Good, and very little on Wilbur and Lilly's children, and the information I do have on the children is a bit suspect, especially Theodore. Here is what I have on this GOOD line:
1.Johann Heinrich Guth (ca 1660-1727)
2.Johann Theobald Guth (ca 1710-ca 1787)
3.Johann Theobald Guth (1735-ca 1819)
4.Samuel Guth/Good (ca 1768-w.p. Oct 1811)
5.John Good (ca1810-aft Jun 1880)
6.Josephus Good (1829-1898)
7.Wilbur Wesley Good (1872-1964)
8.Maude Ellen Good (1899-1999)
Two Husbands; Gaume, Vincent
Johann Heinrich Guth's death was recorded in the Lutheran Church Records, Steinwenden Parish, Pfalz, Bayern, Germany.Johann's wife is unknown, but possibly was Maria Ottilia Becker.Beate Guoth send in the following:
"Yesterday I ran across Maria Ottilia Becker Guth, wife of Heinrich Guth, died 25 Oct 1726 at the age of 37 in Altenkirchen. I guess this is recorded in the Steinwenden Lutheran Church Book. She might be Theobald Guth's mother. I think you might be interested in this information, because you have found the church book entries for Theobald within hours.
There is an online index for the church books which are in the Landesarchiv Rheinland-Pfalz: http://www.landeshauptarchiv.de/uploads/media/Kirchenbuchverzeichnis.pdfhttp://www.landeshauptarchiv.de/uploads/media/Kirchenbuchverzeichnis.pdf . According to this index - as far as I understood it - church book entries for the Lutheran parish of Steinwenden prior to 1724 might be found in the church books of Kaiserslautern (Lutheran parish), Münchweiler am Glan or Reichenbach, older entries for the Reformed parish of Altenkirchen in the church books of Obermiesau or Kübelberg. Steinwenden was depopulated after the Thirty Years War which ended 1648 and in the second half of the 17th century only a few families settled there.
Lutherans, living in Altenkirchen, belonged to the Lutheran parish of Steinwenden, for Reformed Protestants there are separate reformed parishes in Altenkirchen and in Steinwenden - at least since the 1720s. It's quite confusing. In the beginning of the 19th century the Lutheran and Reformed Protestant churches finally united. Theobald and his family seem to be Lutheran as church proceedings take place in the parish of Steinwenden, but there are many Reformed Protestant Guths and Beckers in Altenkirchen.
Another source of information might be the Heimatmuseum Altenkirchen . They have a room on emigration from Altenkirchen in the 19th century. Maybe they know something about the 18th century emigrant Theobald Guth."
Her father was listed as Nicolaus Becker and the mother's name was Anna Catharina [Nee?].
