If your interested, I have been speaking to Lightfoot Williams Family (Judge in Lincoln County NC). They told me that some of his family wound up in Cherokee records. His mother's maiden name was Lightfoot, father was a Williams. We are now trying to figure out if he is in fact related to Capt John Lightfoot since Lightfoot is such a rare English surname. Lightfoot Williams is somehow in cahoots with Conrad Hildebrand jr and Phillip Martin's line of Burke,Lincoln Counties NC. Both Lightfoot Williams (Lincoln County) and Conrad Hildebrand Jr (Burke County NC) are signing off on Phillip Martin's line of marriages. Conrad Hildebrand witnessed Lightfoot Williams will. Phillip Martin's son John Martin Sr, his 2nd wife was a Sarah McCoy. John Martin Sr died and his son George Martin (mother was the McCoy) was bound out to Lightfoot Williams. Then a Sarah Martin died in Lincoln County. We are not sure if she is Sarah MCcoy but she had an illegitimate child according to her estate and this child too got bound out to Lightfoot Williams. Lightfoot adopts a daughter (wondering if this could be one of the Martin children) but rumor was Lightfoot Williams fathered a child in the Cherokee and then adopted her. Could he be the father of Sarah Martin's illegitimate child??? We are working on trying to resolve this but being that Lightfoot Williams and Conrad Hildebrand jr seem to be very involved with Phillip Martin's line I do suspect more and more Phillip Martin might connect to General J.
