Exactly, interesting that not only Hoods and Hidlebrands together around the right time your looking but also in general Burns is around Conrad Hildebrand too. This is all before the trial. Also a thought what if your ancestor Alex went by his middle name and he is listed with a possible first name on the census since I am not seeing an Alex Burns near this bunch??????? The name Alec/Elic is is also close sounding to Nick (Nicholas that lived near Conrad). Being that your ancestor is partially AI is it possible they pronounced Alec's name wrong? Just like the European could not spell or pronounce AI words and names correctly. A lot of these people did know each other. What I really need is for to add Burke County Court minutes. Our answers may be there somewhere but they haven't added those yet and the only other way to get them is on microfilm at the North Carolina Archives on microfilm.. They do have Superior Court minutes which are not indexed by county or name and Superior Court minutes.

Ill let you know if I come up with anything else. Im still going through my uncles DNA matches. He is 2 generations closer to my elders than me. We share some same matches but many different. It's his DNA that is really revealing things. Ill keep watching his DNA matches see if he or I come up with closer matches who might have Burns or more Hidebrand clues.

We are getting a few close matches to the Sneed family. Do you have any ties to them and if so (or not) do you know what surnames they connect to? I spoke to one briefly who shares a 3rd party match to my Piercy,McMillian line. This is at Family tree. This person matches both me and my uncle. This match just answered me briefly that they were AI and Scotch and nothing more. I share one Sneed match with my uncle at ancestry and then he has a few more that I have not contacted yet. All of them in closer range match to my uncle. Now I spoke to the co admin of Granville usgenweb. She is a well known researcher and descends from the Sneeds of Granville. They owned slaves. She has African in her lines but she told me there were AI Sneeds in Iredell County just west of Burke and just south of Wilkes where both sides of my uncle's elders were. Do you know what surnames the Cherokee Sneeds connect to????? Those Gallagher's in Rowan wound up in Iredell so I did not know if these Sneeds could have any connection to Gallagher (Gallagher missing paper and Iredell had a courthouse fire) but I did also have ancestors in Wilkes right on the border of Iredell. Its possible we picked up the Sneeds in Granville and don't know it but I cant see that being a close match the way these Sneed matches are reading. Just trying to connect the dots on who connects to who.
