this is important to correct:

"Slavery was not abolished until 1865 SO, Jane WAS infact part of the "1936 Trail of Tears" despite what others post on this message board! Jane was very young and I do not have her birth mother or fathers name BUT I am told that he was one of the Main Cherokee Chiefs at that time."

the Trail of Tears' occurred in teh 1838-1839 time frame.
IF she had been on the Trail of Tears, she would have ended up in the Cherokee Nation West.

If her father had been a Cherokee Chief I seriously doubt that she would have been a slave. IF she had been a slave, and her father was a chief there would be mention of it somewhere - it would not be a nebulous theory.

Were that person to post some other family names it would make her searchable.

just things to think about.
