Just like the Dowells. The "Opps" in General J's family. We dont know the name of the Dowell men's mother but given who their family was I have a feeling this "Sweetie" George Martin may have had was probably FPC (Indian or African).
Since you brought up Samuel Houston. Funny story some of the Cherokee nation is not paying attention to their trees on ancestry.com. My cousin line Samuel Benge who was born in Wilkes and dies in Caldwell NC. He is around the same age as Samuel Houston Benge. Some of the Cherokee nation has added my Cousin Samuel as theirs. They have added the 1870 Wilkes NC (My Samuel) Federal census as Samuel Houson Benge. According to their tree Samuel Houson Benge went on the trail came back to Wilkes to make an appearance on one federal census in NC in 1870 and then went back to OK. I havent had the heart to email them and tell them our Samuel is not theirs Ha Ha.
