I was looking at a family tree on ancestry and came across a pic of a woman named Johnnie/Lourena Johnnie McMichael Elam: this woman was most definitely not 'full Cherokee'. I don't know what admixture of blood she might have had but she wasn't 'full'. If she is the woman you're looking for, and since she represented herself as White in the census attached to her, I would most definitly expand my opportunities for 'hits' by posting on the elam and mcmichael, and GA and TX boards.

do you know if she possibly had a first marriage to a mcmichael? besides there being misses in the census, in general, if she had a previous marriage it's possible that she could have had a different name in 1870.
