James
Thank you for replying to my questions. Here is what I want to know.Since you mentioned the Vanns, I looked through the list and this is the records I found
Andrew M Vann and Joseph Vann in the Fall of 1829 Place,Georgia, High Town River Point, number of Family Indian or mixed how many slaves, mills, trees, lots and then the value of property with Improvements.
Another list shows the Vann family of July 1833.#81 Robert B. Vann, 99 Isaac Vann, 152 George Vann and 201 Will Vann. This list was showing the ammout of debts incurred in the East subtracted from their evaulations. There are different kinds of list and different people on them.
Did these Cherokees come to own specific portions of land in Arkansas or was it community property held by all of the Western Cherokees in Arkansas? If it were given to individuals would those records be with the BIA or with Arkansas Government?
Does anyone know where to get more information on these Cherokee families who came West early?Marriage records etc.
I have written to the Glorerecords.BLM.I noticed that the earliest date on the list you sent was 1837.I really wanted the 1828-1835 records if they exist but I appreciate your help.
Mike
