I'm sure it happened in both directions.My grandparents remember an "Indian" who was white but raised by Indians after they killed the rest of her family. Kinda like Dances With Wolves -- only she didn't marry Kevin Costner and ride off into the sunset.
How you prove it is another story!We supposedly have an ancestor raised by Indians & are getting nowhere fast. DNA would tell you if you have Indian blood - possibly could tell how many generations back (not sure about that)but that wouldn't specifically say whose it was.
Unfortunately, luck is probably what you need to hope for... someone who kept a diary, a county history, a family bible -- someone somewhere that might have wrote it down or related the story.
That early it would surely have sparked some interest and gossip.I would hope someone took note of it. I would read any diaries etc I could find for that area & time frame and hope for the best.Perhaps some early tribal records -- good luck.
