Just as important as it is to not be offended by someone's belief and search for Native American ancestry, is being willing to accept what researchers find about the ancestry someone is seeking, even when that research pretty well erases any claims for Native ancestry.
What a person hopes and what actually is true, isn't always the same, and sometimes those family stories just weren't accurate.
As for me in my research, I just want to find those elusive ancestors, no matter who or what they were and will follow the documents wherever they lead, and if someone comes along with documentation which shows that I am in error, I am grateful not offended.
