I dont believe she has anything to do with the Cherokee.I did a little digging on that area. They were in the area where Geronimo's family was killed so its very possible she was Apache also the Comanche were in that area at some point. Roma TX is also known for peyote. We were in a very isolated area in TX I think it is St Elana Ranch.
Even more strange that my ancestor was shunned but her sister married an Ellis and was not shunned. I know the Ellis family were Indian traders in VA, came to Rowan NC. There are mid 1700's court reacords that the Ellis family was given money for ranging and to entertain the Catawba.
I have seen Ellis on the rolls for both Cherokee and Choctaw. Know that both were briefly in TX. Were any in Webb County prior to the rolls? This is the only reason I can think of as to why her sister was not shunned is that her Ellis husband was Indian?????
Thanks
