I located "A" John and Edith Nimmo on the 1910 census of Kingman Co, Liberty Township, Kansas. Their two daughters, Alice (age 5) and Dona (age 2) were born in Oklahoma- the parents were born in Missouri. They are shown as "white" on the census.
They say they have been married 8 years- which would make it 1902. Oklahoma didn't become a state until 1907. If they were living in the Quapaw Nation of Indian Territory in 1902, they would have to go to a Federal Courthouse (Vinita) or to another state (MO) to get a license to be married, because the tribes did not issue marriage licenses to people who were non-citizens of their Indian nation.
