Georgana:
In reading through the (far too many) arguments and messages that you have posted to this Message Board, I am amazed that one person could have accumulated so much misinformation about our people, especially considering the number of Cherokee history books that are available at most any library! If you had spent less time posting "wishful theories" to this site and more time studying our history, you would see what everyone else sees.
For example- you said "the 1818 Trail of Tears"- I don't know of a local 5th grader that does not know that the Trail of Tears was in 1838/39!
There is positively NO EVIDENCE that your ancestor was Cherokee who was "taken in by a Potts family"-- and the TN census does NOT prove that! If I have heard that story once, I've heard it several hundred times by people who are so obsessed by the desire to brag about having "Cherokee ancestors", and with 35 years of Cherokee research behind me, I have yet to find even one of those stories to be true.
Finally-- let me remind you that the name of this message board is "American Indian Genealogy Forum"-- and NOT "Georgana's Personal Web site"!
Nuff said!
