Jodi,
You said, "I would just like to know where I came from and be happy with just that."
I got that, and I believe you misunderstood my point which is this: whatever time you spend thinking about or worrying about any DNA Haplogroup is very likely wasted insofar as moving you forward toward your stated objective.
The more urgent matter at hand is to expend your time and energy looking for a trail in to the Church parish records in Mexico, so YOU CAN FIND OUT WHO YOUR PARENTS' GRANDPARENTS were... and maybe another generation beyond that.AND the parish records will give you at least the chance for a pretty reliable geographic location for your lost family. There *might* be an existing printed source in a good-sized genealogy library somewhere.I know I chanced upon about 12 linear feet of transcribed parish records from old southwest Louisiana - when it was under the French - and subsequently up til the early 1800's.I found the answers to questions I had been asking for 10 yrs just by following the very slimmest of clues... and the work was genealogy, not biology posing as genealogy.
As I said earlier, any energy you expend on the coastal origin of your particular haplogroup is not productive, unless the rules apply all the way down to Tierra del Fuega at the southmost tip of South America...
again, good luck in your search.
