You might want to take a look at some actual records in Fayette Co AL and Calhoun Co MS to verify your family history. The WINTER's are well documented.

Fayette Co AL was created in 1824 from land ceded by the Choctaw and Cherokee Nations.
The PENNINGTON and WINTER families were amongst the early (white) settlers who moved in to this region, after this time.
