We are tring to find out through Vital records of Nashville TN or Kingport TN newspaper it started back in 1916 Franklin P Whitaker was white Cora married him and had my grandfather RL Whitaker 1933 he died 1984 he was not white or black he looked red my mom looks "not white" The story is Cora was full RL 1/2 my mom a 1/4 that makes me an 1/8 I'm white. When Vietam was over in the early 80's people would come up to my mom and call her a gook then ask me if I were lost and if that was really my mom. She has black hair dark skin brown eyes. I however have light hair, skin and blue eyes. When the Trail of Tears happen Cora's people hid in the hills later moonshined. Claimed white opened a Baptist Church in Gregg Hollow on or near Whitaker Rd.
