charles william crews, son of william h. crews & liza usher (married), born on 7/4/1886 was my father-in-law. it has been said he was 1/2 cherokee indian. after research, it had to be william h. crews who was indian. cannot find what the connection was. william is said to have been killed by lightning while working in the fields. it is said he was buried by the river, which must have been close by (ogeechee or ohoopee??). william h. crews & liza had 2 sons: charles william & george marion. he died sometime between 1888 - 1890.
Bulloch (or Bullock) county is where Statesboro, Ga. is. It is there that william & liza's marriage license was recorded.
