I agree with you. I wish that more New England tribes were posting, however I am not sure if that would even help me with my genealogy. I have hit a brick wall on my line that has American Indian ancestry. Back in the late 1600s and early 1700s the settlers in NE were so determined to not admit that there were any Indians around, that they "encouraged" them to take English names and to intermarry with whites. They also "adopted" Indian children. I have been working on my genealogy for years, and my lines were fairly easy to track, except for the Indian side. I always knew that we had Indian blood but my family could not remember what tribe or tribes were involved, only that they seemed to have been all over the NE area, mostly MA and NH. I have no idea whether they started out as "fullbloods" or if the Indian blood was by intermarriage. However, even after all these many years you are able to tell that there is Indian blood in my family. The NE tribes apparently didn't keep too many records, or perhaps weren't allowed to in those days. My family had apparently been passing as white for many many years. In trying to research my family history I have found out things that have surprised me. For one thing, I had no idea that the white settlers and the Indians moved around so much in those days. Or that white women also married Indian men. I had assumed it was the other way around. Also, another thing that slows down research back then, is that alot of the early settlers to NE were young single men who took Indian wives. However, in most records it is not mentioned, so people doing their genealogy, and who come upon their GGGGGGgrandparents have no idea that one of them may have been Indian. I believe that there are many, many New Englanders who come from Indian ancestry and who don't even know it, unless of course it does "show up" So even though I know we have Indian ancestry I will never be able to prove it, much less find out for sure which tribe or tribes. But at least in my heart I know it, and I am proud of it. Good luck in your search.
