[sent August 19th] Today is August 19th. On this date in 1951, seven-year-old Dennis J. Ahern [me] of Rockport, Massachusetts, went to sea in a borrowed 10-foot skiff. It wasn't until the wee hours of the following day before I was found by a lobster boat drifting a couple of miles off the coast. See http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~aherns/1951.htm for the newspaper story. The Ahern obituary page has now passed the 4,100 mark.
