[sent December 25th]
Today is December 25th. On this day in 1967 Mr. and Mrs. John Ahern of
Park Ridge, Illinois were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Loftus for
Christmas dinner.
The Aherns obituary index has now passed the 3,850 mark. The earliest new
obituary is for 2-year-old Catherine Cecilia Ahearn of Boston, 18 March
1886. The most recent new obituary is for Mike Ahern of Norfolk, England,
2 December 2009. Mike was a disk jockey on the pirate radio ship Caroline,
which broadcast from the English Channel, beyond the reach of the BBC.
This is the subject of a recent movie with Philip Seymour Hoffman entitled
"Pirate Radio", which was released in the UK under the title "The Boat
That Rocked". For a tribute page to Mike Ahern, go to
