[sent July 14]
Today is July 14th. On this day in 1924, 41-year-old Catherine Theresa
Ahearn, from Passage West, Cork, was naturalized in Somerville, Mass. See
http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~aherns/ahnat.htmhttp://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~aherns/ahnat.htm for an index of
Aherns naturalized in the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New
Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
See http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~aherns/ahloii.htm#deedshttp://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~aherns/ahloii.htm#deeds for an
index to Aherns mentioned in the Registry of Deeds in Dublin. This is
taken from the Registry of Deeds Index Project and is not a complete list
of all Aherns in the Registry records. Anyone with an Ahern record from
the Registry is invited to contribute it to the database at the project
website. You can also go there to search other surnames.
The Ahearn obituary page has now passed the 3,675 mark. The earliest new
obituary is for James Ahern, a 50-year-old native of Ireland who was
killed when he stepped out a second-story window in San Francisco,
mistaking it for a door when he awoke in the night, 6 June 1888. The most
recent new obituary is for Dennis W. Ahearn, of Brighton, Michigan, who
was killed in an automobile accident, 23 June 2009.

http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~aherns/ahcrim.htm#portphiliphttp://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~aherns/ahcrim.htm#portphilip
shows that a Thomas Aherne arrived in New South Wales on the Argyle in
1841. Whether or not he could have taken over a pub license in Tasmania
within the year is speculative as the Argyle would have had to have
landed in January.
