Ahern website updates

Earlier this month a subscriber asked to be taken off this list as they
were only interested in Aherns in Ireland. Admittedly, the focus of late
seems to be more on obituaries and news stories from North America, but
you never know when something related to your own family or locality may
show up. For example, I also got an email this month from someone who saw
the item "Miss Loretta Ahearn of Bridgeport, Connecticut visited William
Martin stationed at Camp Upton in Yaphank, New York, 3 June 1918" and when
they read the full article they discovered that the driver of the car was
her future husband.
I also would like to remind you to check the Ahern bulletin board pages on
sites such as Rootsweb, Genforum, and CousinConnect, all of which have
links from our website's main page.
The Ahern Obituaries page has now passed the 3,225 mark. The earliest new
obituary is for Miss Maggie Ahern, aged 31, daughter of Richard, who died
of consumption in Quincy, Illinois, 26 July 1887. The most recent new
obituary is for Bob Aherne of Dromcollogher, County Limerick, 20 January
2007. See http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~aherns/ahobidx.htmhttp://homepages.rootsweb.com/~aherns/ahobidx.htm for index.
The Aherns in Ohio page has been updated with an expansion of the index to
Ohio death records from 1913-1937 to 1913-1944 with 41 new records.
Today is January 23rd. On this date in 1948 it was reported that Miss
Grace Ahern of Winnipeg, Manitoba hosted an engagement party for Miss
