I am looking for any information about the family of James Ahern or Ahearn. From the 1870 and 1880 census James was born in Ireland about 1835 and was a stonecutter. He died between 1880 and 1890 when his wife is listed as his widow in the NYC city directory. His wife was Jane, born about 1840 in Ireland.
1870 census: living at 333 E 59th st, with children George age 4, Mary age 3 and Susan age 1
1880 census: living at 347 E 114th st, with only son George age 6
All children noted to have been born in New York.
After 1890, widow Jane moved to 2099 Second ave. Have not been able to find a death or re-marriage record for her in New York City, or for any of the children. There may be a connection to an Irish Cummings family also in NYC.
