I am tracing connections to my gggrandfather Michael Ahern and his wife Mary O'Connor.Michael was from Lyracrumpane, CO Limerick, where he is found in the 1820's Tithe Valualtion. He and Mary had Three children: Johanna, Michael, and Bess.1) Johanna married M.Dillane and had at least one daughter, who's married name was Mrs. Cotter.2) Michael, who had two children: Kate who married Con Quirke, and Nell, who married Sheehan. Nell and Sheehan had two sons: Denis and Michael; Kate and Con had two children Con Quirke Jr. and Nora Mary. Nora Mary m. O'Donnell and had one daughter Catherine, who married Mossie Curtin; Con Quirke Jr. m. Ms. Barry and had one daughter Catherine who married Brian Murphy. Con Quirke Jr. also m. Agnes Barry and had three children: Mary Ita who m. Larry Begley, Carmel who m. Gerry Guiney, and Cornelius.3) Bess (my ggrandmother)was married twice; Her fisrt husband, Mr. Nolan was from Toureen Ard, Knocknagoshel, CO,Kerry. She had two children with him; Hannah and Mary Nolan. Hannah married Simon Keane, and had seven children: Nora (m. Patsy Healy), Mary, Joan, Kitty, Paddy, Kerry(male), Betty,and Con. Con m. Mary?; had son named Simon. Mary married Lenihan and had a daughter who became Mrs. Courtney. With her second husband Aeneas Lane, Bess had six children: William, John,Aeneas, Ellie, Michael(Mick), and Nora.1)William m. Julia Nolan and had two children: William and Patsy. 2)John and 3)Aeneas were unmarried. 4)Ellie m. Murphy from Lyracrumpane, and had four children: Paddy, Ellie, John, and Maggie who married Fitzmaurice.5) Mick, who married Nolan, and inherited family farm, had seven children: Aeneas, Paul, Jack, Mary,Betty (m. Gildea), Billy, and Richard. 6) Nora (my grandmother) who married widower, Maurice Murphy, who had had three children by his first wife; Minnie Scanlon of Knocknagoshel. Nora and Maurice lived on a farm in Knockawarriga, MT.Collins,
CO Limerick, and had six more children: Elizabeth(Lil), Eileen, Nora, Hannah, Aeneas, and Kathleen(Kitty). Elizabeth m. Vincent Kreutz and lived in Islip, NY; Eileen m. Anthony McDonald and lived in Sacramento, CA; Nora m. Jack Newman,and lived in England; Hannah m. John Joe Curtin and still lives on the Curtin farm in Garravane, Mt. Collins, CO Limerick;Aeneas m. Mary Collins of Brosna, and lives in Ardpatrick, CO Limerick;and Kitty(my mother) married Seamus Murphy of
Cork City and lived in The Bronx in NYC.
I would like to find siblings and parents of both Michael Ahern and Mary O'Connor, grandchildren of William and Julia Lane, grandchildren of Ellie and Mr. Murphy, and grandchildren of Michael and Miss Nolan.
I will be in Ireland from Feb. 17 till march 14, 1999. Would love to meet distant and not so distant cousins. I'm buying the first
round!
