Steven,

Do you know where your family was from? It usually helps to start asking questions of any older relatives you can contact. They might remember stories that give clues of places. If your people were from someplace like New Mexico or Texas, you might start with tracing back through census records that you can use at your local geneaology library.

If your family is in Mexico, I am still figuring out a convenient way to get information, but the Mexican churches, especially, but also the civic governments, have records on their community members. I.e., births, baptisms, marriages, deaths, etc.

Where were your folks from? The name you mention is unfamiliar, but I certainly don't know all the branches of Aguirres.

Good luck!
