Hello, I'm still chasing Aguilars all over NM. Ysidro Aguilar, son of Juan Aguilar & Ma YsabelGutierrez married Juana Rosalia Lopez(widow of Jose Maria Sena) Dec.29,1808. The marriage record states that Ysidro was from Xemes Canon,& with certification from Fr.Mariano Sanchez, the marriage was performed. What exactly does "with certification" mean? Where exactly was Canon Xemes? Was it a Native American site? I have been unable to find any more information on Juan Aguilar & Ysabel Guiterrez. Can anyone help? In the Santa Fe Census of 1821, the Aguilar famly is living in el Barrio de San Francisco. Was this barrio anywhere near San Francisco Street in modern day Santa Fe? Ysidro & Juana had a son named Paulino born about 1823. I have been unable to find a birth record for him. Can anyone help? I am running out of resources here in Calif. I read that by 1850, there were 11 Aguilars in Taos and Santa Fe,NM. Presumably, this meant 11 families, and did this refer to "espanoles" only or were native Americans included in this count? I'd really like to hear from who is researching Aguilars who started out in Santa Fe. Gloria Notify Administrator about this message?
