You are probably not aware that Michael's name was originally Agney. I am on another branch that also switched to Agnew. Other branches are still Agney. I've been in touch with two other people on your branch. Most Agnews are Scotch-Irish. The origins of Agney are less clear, probably English, but nobody has been able to trace back from NJ to Europe.
