My grandfather was born in Bellwood, PA (Blair County) on May 14, 1887. He was born to Sarah M. Neff (her maiden name) who must have named him after his biological father. When Charles was two years old, she married Henry H. McKinney and by the time Charles was around 20 years old, he was using the McKinney name and there is a whole lineage of McKinney's since he took his stepfather's name.
I am wondering if there is any way I can find out about my grandfather's biological family.
Anyone out there have any ideas as to how I should proceed? Is there a place somewhere that lists the births of Blair County or know of anyone who will do "look ups" in Blair County. I have written to the Blair County Courthouse, but haven't heard anything and they are probably too busy to do geneology work.
