My name is Anick Cocks. I am 41 years old. I live close to Quebec City, in the province of Quebec in Canada. A long time ago, I heard that it was in 1908, a man called Sampson Cyprus Cocks (Cox) came to Canada with his wife Mary AGER and his son John Josiah Cocks. The lady Ager never reached North America. In fact, apparently she died on the boat about a disease called peritonitis after appendicitis. Maybe I am wrong, but this is what I have been told since I was a child. By my name, you can guess right that this lady was my great-grand-mother and her husband my great-grand-father. I am making genealogical and historical research to try to find out what happened to Mary Ager and what was her life and who were her parents. I know that at this time in 1908 that life was very difficult, maybe they had good reasons to come establish themselves here but more than that, I would like to know when and why they left. Could you tell me if there are still Ager's family in England? I would like very much to know if I have great-grand-cousin in England. I have a copy of a Christmas card that Mr and Mrs H.S. Ager send to my grand-father, Josiah Cocks, in 1941. They were living in Ross-on-Wye. Please, if you could help be that would be so great. Samson didn't have any other children even if he got married in 1912. John Josiah Cocks, Mary's son, got married three times: 1- 23-09-1909, Methodist Church, Thetford Mines, Quebec. with Ada Mary Lever of Liverpool (~1895-1915). four children 2-26-08-1916, St-Peter's chapel, Quebec, Quebec with Violet Carter of England(~1896-1917) one child that did not survive 3- 26-04-1918, St-Patrick, Quebec, Quebec with Lumina Lavoie (my grand-mother) (1898-1955) 12 children. We are 130 descendants of Mary Ager. We all want to know what happened to her. Where she was from? etc. If you want to know more about us, it is very simple. I have website that you can visit.
